  1. Pete, do you know about this? I did not write it but this man used to talk to me as well and I just found out yesterday and reblogged it if only as a cautionary tale:

  2. BIDPete, I use my BB for all my internet and sometimes I am sure my entries disappear into a big black blackberry hole in cyber space. First of all I wanted to thank you for including me in your “with a little help from my friends” post. (Something I swear I did already but canโ€t find anywhere)

Second I wanted to share with you a recent conversation I had with my 28 year old son. I raised him as a single mom and as much as I tried to be a good parent that instilled values, morals and most of all loved unconditionally (I can relate to your post about being a father cuz that’s the way I feel as my son’s mother) a mother can’t be a father.

My son didn’t do without anything any other child from a two parent family had except one thing-the love and guidance of a father.

He recently became a father himself, nit an ideal situation; went for dinner and had unprotected “dessert”. Don’t worry his momma slapped him up side the head, said “exactly how long ago did I tell you to use a condom?” And then embraced the idea of becoming a grandma.

I am very proud of my boy, he’s gone through some tough times but he is an intelligent, hard working, moral, sensitive man that has accomplished more in his short life than many men accomplish in a life time. And by accomplishments I mean personal growth not material things.

Anyway we were discussing his daughter’s Christmas gifts and he has bought her some designer outfit and I said I thought it was extravagant and he said she’s so cute she needs to be dressed in the best. I understand that he just loves her to death and wants her to have the best but I warned him of the dangers of making it all about looks.

That you want them to grow up feeling attractive but not feeling it is the only thing important. Do you get what I’m saying? I was bulimic/anorexic from the age of 17-27 and it’s become such an epidemic with young girls these days.

I think a lot of kids go through an awkward, or chubby stage, blemishes, whatever and if it is all ways about being cute they feel inferior. (My dad always talked about my big ass, ugly feet, and flat chest. As did my mom. She had the big ass/flat chest and was always talking about it)

So I pointed out to my son that its good to also focus on her interests, her mind, sense of humour, etc. I also suggested if he needed a man to talk to about parenting a daughter he check out your blog and shared your post on being a father with him.

Have you had any experiences with any of your daughter having an eating disorder?

Thanks for being here for my boy if he does stop by, I enjoy your blog immensely.

    • Carrie my dear, hope everything is well. I can’t believe it’s been over a week that I have missed this! My apologies! Thankfully I have not had any problems with my daughters. Your son sounds like an awesome person. I think it’s ok for him to splurge a little on his daughter now as she is probably one or two years old. Its when she gets older that he has to put in the hard work. I would love to offer him some of my experiences. Living in New York I really had to fight tooth and nail to keep my oldest daughter from becoming a statistic. She is model beautiful and it took 100% of my attention 100% of the time. My (Father is what I am) post is 100% how I handled raising my daughters. Also have your son read my (WHAT YOU THINK YOUR A MAN) post and tell me what he thinks about it. Give him my e-mail (e5pete@hotmail.com) in case he wants to talk and I will give him my phone #. No judging or preaching on my part just pure real talk man to man. I truly can offer some incite into dealing with daughters. I will be writing about how I raised my daughterS in detail in future post. Not that I believe that I have the only or right way of raising a daughter, just my experience. Maybe someone can take a small portion of it and use it to their benefit.

  4. Hello there!!

The mind is so powerful that whatever we create in our thoughts with passion and strong desire are all coming true. So we have to be careful with what we desire, and what we imagine, and what we say. So I keep positive thoughts in my mind and my heart to attract good and positive things. I work hard to keep the beautiful thoughts, my dreams, things that I love in my heart than things that will release sadness, loneliness, anger, hatred, and anything that is negative.

We must always remember that we are here on Earth to live for love, and to live in happiness!

    Happy reading!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I had a desk calendar full of quotes from kids a few years ago. I’ve had this one taped to my computer ever since.

“The world is a wonderful place and everyone should shut up and enjoy it every once in a while.” ~ Sarah, age 12.

It’s too easy to let life get in the way of living.

  7. Hey! …”a breath of fresh air”….is what comes to mind as I looked thru ur blog…Its educating, entertaining, enlightening ….all in one. Thanks for stopping by, liking what you saw and letting me know by subbing….am truly honored! Have a good weekend! Bye 4 now ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • You are to kind! But everybody already knows that! I am a fan of yours, like you i also know that life is a gift and that we should cherish it. I know this all to well as i just this year survived a ruptured aneurism and watching the video reminded me of my many weeks in the neuro icu and how thankful i am for this incredible life. Welcome Laurie! And i hope you will become a frequent contributor in my attempts to help anybody who needs the help.

      • Hi Pete… truly I dont know if you could call me kind….u know, I do have “my moments” when my temper flares and I shout the roof down but one thing I know for sure is that seeing anyone suffering in any way always moves me to do something to allievate their pain. Probably coz when we graduate in the School of Pain our Vision changes , our innate rough edges get smoothened and a total heart transplant occurs – as we now have a new heart of mercy and compassion. I’m really sorry to hear about your suffering but am glad to see that the hard knocks in life has been instrumental in making you what you are today- the understanding friend and compassionate adviser. We need more people like you who are willing to go the extra mile break boundaries and build bridges by joining hands with all who want to help. There is definitely strength in unity. You can definitely count me in for doing my part to help others. Just sharing an inspirational quote I came across on a hospital door. Maybe, this will inspire someone today! ๐Ÿ˜‰
” I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore there be any kindness I can show,or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now and not defer or neglect it,as I shall not pass this way again!”
        C U later!
        Cheers,

        • Point, set, match, Checkmate, Winner-Winner chicken dinner. Read it people.
โ€ I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore there be any kindness I can show,or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now and not defer or neglect it,as I shall not pass this way again!โ€

          • That actually reminded me a little of a quote from one of my posts…

“If my friends who leave this world before me can go with a piece of my heart, if I can take with me a small piece from those I leave behind, I will have lived. What more could life offer me than a chance to whisper ‘I love you,’ as I pass? Or perhaps to shout it.”

            • Nice! I have said I love you every day that I have been with my wife or daughters. No bullshit! Our day starts out some thing like this. Good morning my love, or What’s up Kid! and ends some thing like, Have a great day my child, be safe, trust your gut, I love you! Love you more Dad, or old man, or dude, or my favorite (Parental unit)

  8. Thanks for subscribing to my blog!!!

  9. I believe that you should always say what you think, just don’t be an asshole about it. Thanks for reading my blog by the way!

  10. Hi there. Thanks for subscribing to my blog! Robyn

    • It is Amazing to meet you Robyn. You’re blog is truly powerful! You’re youtube channel is a must watch. I am hooked! Hope to hear from you again in the future, you have so much to offer my readers.

  11. Oposites do not attract, that is just plain stupid. Marry someone with whom you have things in common. Books, movies, goals, hobbies, morals. or else what is the frickin point?! It’s just more one huge ass mistake that leads to you unhappiness. This may sound crazy but I am completely convinced that you should find a great set of in laws first then you will have found a good man. Trust me on this one.

    • Yes, Yes, Yes i love my in-laws and my wife loves her in-laws, Maybe that’s a big reason why we have been married over 36 years. Along with a 1000 other reasons, like Love, Respect, Care and hard work, compromise, loyalty and on. and on, and on………….

  12. It’s not what you do; it’s the way you do it
It’s not what you’ve got; it’s the way you make use of it.
It’s not what you don’t do; it’s the reason why you don’t do it.
It’s not what you haven’t got; it’s the way you feel about not having it.You can be surrounded by everything you might ever need, but if you don’t understand what it is you really need, your opulence will bring you no comfort. You can really be in a terribly tight spot-but, as long as you seek wisdom, you will always find a way out of it. A sense of perspective is all you need now.

  13. LIFE:
Do what you love and do it often.
If you don’t like something, change it.
If you don’t like your job, Quit.
If you don’t have enough time, stop watching TV.
If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love.
Stop over analyzing, life is simple.
Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself.
Some opportunities only come once, seize them.
LIFE is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them so go out and start creating.

  14. it is always better to avoid painful bad decisions. Though also, perhaps (even youth) need to be allowed to mess up so that they can be broken of pride so that they can walk in humility and live their life right. All of us will fall even in the best attempt to remain steady. Now, I may stumble but I will not fall. God bless, Roxanne

Thanks Pete! I’m encouraged that you were blessed by these words. We’re all on this journey together. Hopefully, in the process, we can learn from each other. Good evening, Roxanne
